The dogs we raise

English Aussies

Intelligence, loyalty, and a sweet disposition—the qualities we cherish in our dogs.

Why this pairing?

At Shepherd Farms, we’re dedicated to raising Australian Shepherd–English Shepherd puppies with thoughtful attention to temperament and disposition. Our farm family includes two females and one male. Our English–Australian Shepherd pairing brings together a purebred English Shepherd mother and a purebred Australian Shepherd father.

This pairing is intentional. We value the intelligence, loyalty, and herding heritage of both breeds, and we thoughtfully pair them with temperament and disposition in mind. Our goal is to raise sweet-natured, friendly, devoted companions who can enjoy life alongside people and other animals. A loving start and careful socialization matter just as much as the pairing itself.

These are active, intelligent dogs, and each puppy has a personality of its own. We love helping families get to know them and consider which puppy may suit their home and daily life.

Shepherd Dogs of Shepherd Farms

Faithful companions. A life of care.

A loving start

Care begins here.

We believe a wonderful family companion begins with the care and early work of the breeder. Our puppies are raised in a home setting, with gentle handling and socialization from birth.

As their eyes and ears open, we introduce them to a variety of everyday sights and sounds at an age-appropriate pace. We work to give each puppy a foundation for confidence as they discover the world around them.

From quiet cuddles to the activity of family life, our aim is simple: give every puppy a thoughtful, loving start before they join their new family.

Sweet Millie Jane · loved by Lindsey & Reed

A Troy Fest meeting. A new best friend.

Meet Millie Jane

My name is Lindsey! My boyfriend, Reed, and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mark and Mrs. Misti at Troy Fest 2024 in Troy, Alabama!

It was a normal weekend, and I was checking in on Reed as he was working the fest with Troy FD. I had been walking around, just looking at all the booths everyone had set up, when I spotted Mr. Mark and Mrs. Misti with their wagon full of pups! At the time, Reed and I had no intention of looking for a new family member, but we knew we wanted one in the future. Well… they just kept getting closer to where we were, and I just had to go see the precious pups! Then, we found our sweet Millie Jane!!

Mr. Mark, Mrs. Misti, and their team made getting her such a fun and easy experience! As young people getting into buying a dog, that’s just what we needed, and I’m so blessed we found them! There was no hassle during the process of actually paying or receiving MJ whatsoever. They are truly the sweetest people ever, and the love they have for their dogs just radiates off of them! Thanks to them, we now have a new best friend who keeps us going all the time, and we couldn’t love her more!

A farm beginning. A family to love.

From our farm to their family

A puppy—and a friendship.

Our experience purchasing a puppy from Misti and Mark was 10/10! The love and care they have for their animals is unmatched. We are thankful that we found a breeder that has top-notch values and provides the best environment to bring up these sweet animals. The communication from Misti and Mark, transition of our pup from their farm to our home, and support during the whole process has been seamless! The only thing better than being able to take our perfect puppy home to our two little boys, was getting to form a friendship with Misti and Mark.

Loved from the very beginning

The perfect addition.

Shepherd Farms is truly outstanding! We are incredibly grateful to have met Mrs. Misti and her husband. They made sure to send us plenty of pictures of our sweet puppy and were always incredibly kind whenever we interacted with them. It’s evident that they genuinely love each and every puppy with all their hearts. Millie is the perfect addition to our family—she loves to play, learns quickly, enjoys being outside, and is very friendly and loving. She is also very good with kids! Our experience has been nothing short of amazing, all thanks to Shepherd Farms. We are truly blessed to have met such an amazing family!

Ruger · little beginnings, a whole lot of personality.

Growing up with his family

Ruger hit the jackpot.

I just have to share how pleased we are with our sweet little man Ruger! He is such a great addition to our family. He’s smart, lovable, has a wonderful disposition, plays well with our other animals (though the horses are still a little intimidating) and has become our Millie’s playmate and shadow. He loves to cuddle and is quite the couch potato.

If you’re in the market for a truly wonderful pet, I highly recommend Shepherd Farms . Misti and Mark have been wonderful to work with. It’s obvious they love their animals and take great strides in finding them loving homes. I’m a little biased but I’d say our Ruger hit the jackpot! It’s his (and Maggie’s) world, we’re just living in it!!!

A dear companion

Meet Bruin

We got a puppy from these wonderful people. I recently had to put my best friend down due to illness. My Daughter and Wife got me a beautiful Australian Shepherd who has definitely helped me with the sadness of losing my Chow, Rosie. Thank You Very Much!

A surprise worth waiting for

Meet Alli

Earlier this year, I began the search for my fourteen-year-old daughter’s first puppy…at least, the first puppy that was to be ALL hers. She’s a capable, attentive, and responsible girl who had been begging for years for a puppy all her own.

Having loved an Aussiedoodle in the past (with all my heart), I knew that some variation of Aussie was what I was after. I came across the Shepherd Farms Facebook page as I was browsing one day, and was immediately smitten with the most interesting , adorable litter of puppies. I had never seen Aussie or English shepherds with such beautiful markings, and with such an interesting mix of features from both parents. All were adorable, but one in particular snagged my heart - a little Merle baby with gorgeous blue eyes.

I contacted Misti and set up a day to head to the farm and meet the puppies. I pulled up to a lovely home place and the most handsome male Aussie met me at the gate (sire) with his piercing blue eyes. Mark and Misti welcomed me and introduced me to the dam and the “aunt” as well…all friendly, healthy, and obviously very loved. I spent some time with all the puppies, and bonding with the little lady whose photos had caught my eye. By the time I left, I was ready to take three or four home with me!

Over the next few weeks, Misti kept in contact and sent me photos and videos regularly to update me on vet visits and general puppy fun. She and Mark were gracious enough to hold my puppy until my daughter’s school year was over (an extra week or so), because I had not told her she was getting this surprise and I needed her to be readily available for her new responsibility. The night I brought Alli home, my daughter (along with the rest of our kids) was beyond elated. She immediately bonded with the kids and our two adult dogs, without issue.

Since she came to us, Alli has effortlessly claimed a place in our family. She is smart, fun, and easy to train. She loves to snuggle as much as she loves to play. She is a friend to every dog she meets. I absolutely couldn’t have chosen a better breed.

The experience we had with Shepherd Farms was better than I can describe. Misti and Mark are honest, loving people who treat their dogs like family. I have told so many people how smitten I am with this breed and with this farm, and they deserve all the recognition and success!
